Clydach

Dynamic Rock is proud to be 'Putting climbing at the heart of the community'. Occupying the old Public Hall in Clydach, the building has seen many uses before opening its doors as Swansea's only indoor roped climbing centre in 2006.
Clydach is a village of 8,500 people in the Swansea Valley dominated by the 'Mond' Nickel Works. It's High Street is worth exploring with many independent shops and cafes.
O Law i Law, a small but mighty charity shop next to our carpark, is worth checking out! It's packed to the rafters with donated goods and the money raised goes straight back into the local community. They also keep dog biscuits behind the counter ...
The Coterie, a few minutes walk away, is a lovely little gift shop, full of hand made crafts from local makers.

Nearby you'll find Gallery of Gifts with lots of pictures and cards - many drawn by Mike, one of the owners.
HR Jones is a local institution. An old fashioned, family run ironmongers (that also sells knitting wool and fishing tackle!) they stock everything you could need for DIY and gardening - or looking after a climbing centre!.

Activities

Picture
Clydach is a real hub for activities! Just behind Dynamic Rock, you will find the Swansea Canal, lovingly restored and looked after by a team of volunteers. They offer kayaking from Coedgwilym Park, just a 20 minute walk from us. Also at Coedgwilym Park you will find a Parkrun every Saturday morning. Cycle route 43 runs past the centre, a 31 mile tarmac route from Coelbren to Swansea.
At the other end of the High Street you'll find Yoga Place Abertawe in a beautiful old church. They offer yoga and other holistic therapies and have developed special Climbing for Yoga sessions for us!
There are so many lovely walks around us! From Dynamic Rock you can walk along the canal towpath all the way to Trebanos and beyond (look out for the statue of the horse and the carved tree!) - there are maps in reception. Cross the road and you can follow a path past Forge Fach waterfall and on to the Cwm Clydach RSPB reserve where woodland trails lead you along the Lower Clydach river (Bailey and Barney's favourite place for chasing squirrels!). Paths lead out of the valley to Mynydd y Gwair, Mynydd Gellionnen and the Carn Llechart circular walk as well as the crags at Graig Cwm. Matt's favourite walk is a circular route around Mynydd Gelliwastad, look carefully and you might just spot us from the top of the hill!

You will also find a whole array of other sports including rugby, football, cricket, karate and boxing. Clydach must be one of the most active areas in Swansea!

Eating

There are lots of lovely places to eat in Clydach, whatever the time of day! Our own café stocks delicious vegan brownies from Brutally Honest Bakery and Rhossili blend coffee from Gower coffee.
Just across the road, Brew and Bloom (part of Forge Fach Community Centre) offers breakfasts, lunches and sweet treats next to Forge Fach waterfalls. On the other side of the river is Riverbank Restaurant, open at weekends for woodfired pizzas - it's a real treat sitting in their riverside garden on summer evenings! Further up into the village is Revive café, our favourite for takeaway breakfasts when we are route-setting and Cwtch Corner who provided a wonderful buffet for our NICAS event in the summer.  And not forgetting Sam 'n' Ben's, our Friday night pizza provider, who have a great menu , private beer garden and lots of live music!
